Learning never ends – I crave for knowledge. Reading and writing is therapy to my soul.

Growing up as a blind child in Nepal reading became a fantasy because books were not available in alternative formats such as Braille, audio, and digital.

Today living in the United States reading has turned into a treat. When I access information, either under my fingertips or in my ears, I feel liberated like stepping on a gas paddle in an automobile. Information equals knowledge.

Knowledge reflects power. Power speaks freedom. Thus reading represents independence to me. Therefore I want to share my love of learning through this monthly reading list:

The 8th habit: From effectiveness to greatness

By Stephen Covey

In this book the author teaches his readers how to discover and establish fulfilling human relationships.

He details the following methods; modeling, path-finding, aligning, and empowering along with a sub-method of focus and execution.

Focus means, “what matters most,” therefore modeling and path-finding fall under focus.

Execution means, “making it happen,” therefore both aligning and empowering belong to execution.

He stated, “8th habit is the pathway to greatness. Greatness lies in finding your voice and inspiring others to find their voice.”.

Infidel

By Ayaan Hirsi Ali

The stories related by Hirsi Ali in Infidel empowered me in January 2008.

After starting this book I couldn’t stop. While reading it my eyes shed tears, my lips stretched out with smiles, and determination, inspiration and positive energy were restored into my heart.

I commend the author for her tenacity to succeed in life.

Giant steps: Small changes to make a big difference, daily lessons in self-mastery

By Anthony Robbins

Robbins inspires his audience to search their souls in Giant Steps.

He encourages them to accept pain as a friend when it’s used effectively.  According to Mr. Robbins, both pain and pleasure shape people’s destinies.

He has developed a system: Neuro-Associative Conditioning (NAC) which influences people to replace old patterns with new, and to take personal responsibilities for their actions.

Mr. Robbins states that the power of belief is either to create or to destroy.
